The PITCH story
PITCH presents work by students from years one to three from the CPIT School of Fashion. Developed in association with New Zealand’s fashion industry, PITCH has become a recognized and innovative fixture on New Zealand fashion's calendar, supported and endorsed by many of our most established designers and influential fashion industry representatives. If you haven't yet seen a PITCH parade then I guarantee that you will be in for a thrill. Francis Hooper, who has appeared as a guest judge twice, says the show is "just cool".

PITCH will be held at the Isaac Theatre Royal this year as part of the Ignition programme. The presentations by the first two years’ students are built on their combined output during the year. For the year 3 students however this is the second collection they will have made and presented in 2010.

The calibre of the work is outstanding and demonstrates the strong focus our school places on applied skills. While year one and two students produce outfits to specific design briefs, students in our final year present garments that have been designed to their own brief. Students use this collection to profile their particular strengths and interests and is in that sense more of a personal statement than their first.

PITCH also exemplifies the collaborative spirit of Ignition incorporating the amazing skills of Hairdressing and Digital Video Post Production students to create a professional and dynamic night for industry and the public of Christchurch.

An important but less well known component of PITCH is the annual Model Auditions. This is a great opportunity to try your hand at modelling. You never know what may come of it? One of our recent model stars, Magdalena Schoeman was last year crowned Miss World New Zealand!
