Simon has spent eighteen years working in the film industry. On leaving school he did three years of Design and photography, continuing studies for one year at the New Zealand Film and Television training School.
Moving to Wellington in 1992 with these acquired skills he started work in the Art Department and worked his way through every job from props buyer, dresser, to set finisher and designer. During this time he also had the opportunity to Direct some Commercials,Childrens Television and finish a Creative New Zealand funded Documentary called “A Changing Landscape”featuring seven leading New Zealand painters.
In 1997 Simon left for London, and started work as an Art Director to production designer Mike grant (Dept Art). Working on mainly high end commercials, music videos and photo shoots for the likes of Bacardi, B.T, Radiohead and Jamiroquai, to name a few, and stills shoots for Annie Leibovitz and Rankin (Dazed and confused magazine).
During this time he started looking for subject matter to do a film about, and found Gerald Wells; a man with an extraordinary obsession, vintage radio. Directing and Co Producing this Documentary Drama set in 1940s and present day London became a 4 year project of love. Shot in the U.K and with Post done at Park Rd, and Manilla, Philippines.

At the moment Simon is working on developing 3 feature films one of which is a collaboration with Iain Banks (Whasp factory) and Rodger Grey writer.
